SUMMER DRIFT

Blue gold smear of  days
We discuss nothing with gulls
Grow inward and calm

Dreams lap in and out
Between the black scales of night
Strong necks drag huge fish

Beach hibiscus pulse
Frail tissues in summer wind
Water laps, returns
